About
Hey, I’m Amol!
My obsession with computers started back in the DOS days—tweaking HIMEM.SYS on a 486 just to squeeze out enough memory to run Prince of Persia, and later hacking custom Android ROMs onto early Windows Mobile devices. That early curiosity naturally evolved into a lifelong passion for open-source software, breaking down complex systems, and building resilient architecture. When I’m not deep in the terminal, you’ll usually find me obsessing over pc games, nerding out over personal finance and compounding strategies, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen (where good timing and process automation matter just as much as in production).
Over the past two decades, my engineering journey has been all about keeping mission-critical systems fast, scalable, and unbreakable:
-
HPC & Render Infrastructure: Cut my teeth at Hollywood VFX powerhouse Rhythm & Hues, running 24x7 distributed GPU render farms, Isilon storage, and petabyte-scale media pipelines across global studios.
-
Nationwide Telecom Cloud: Led DevOps teams at Reliance Jio, architecting 5 massive multi-tenant OpenStack clouds with active-active HA across nationwide data centers supporting millions of users.
-
Scale & Performance Engineering: Managed SRE initiatives at Media.net, architecting ultra-low-latency platforms and high-throughput data infrastructure capable of handling millions of requests per second and massive enterprise data migrations with zero disruption.
My journey of last 2 decades have been in various stages of learning to be a better Engineering Leader, mentoring high-performing engineering teams, and building complex systems while fostering a culture of operational excellence, data-driven reliability governance, and deep automation
This blog is an open notebook to share my thoughts and learnings revolving around systems, engineering leadership and AI techstack.
